My ancestors were global adventurers – scattered from Malaysia to Australia, from Hong Kong to Amsterdam.  All looking for the next vista.

My parents carried on the tradition.  I was born England, moved to Canada at age 5 landing in Toronto and then Vancouver. At 10 we immigrated to the U.S. in Des Moines and finally landed in Santa Barbara where at the age of 16 I became a US citizen.

While in Des Moines my family took a three-month road trip across the Northwest from the Lake of the Woods to the Canadian Rockies and back through the northern states to Iowa with three kids, two dogs, a tent trailer and my first camera.  I shot national parks, campsites and our little troop along the way. I was hooked!

Life is about experiences, after college I worked and traveled around the world for more than 11 years.  All along the way were photos – underwater in Kwajalein, farm life in New Zealand, countryside in Japan, raging rivers in Iceland to mountain hiking in the European Alps and more. 

Now, after settling in the Bay Area I’m retired, living on the San Mateo County coast enjoying the time to more deeply explore all aspects of photography – landscapes, plants, animals, people and share my experiences.

As a former engineer, I pride myself on getting the most out of my camera gear and processing software.  I started with a Nikon Nikomat film camera in the 70’s and have enjoyed the progression in photographic technology over the years. 

My photos have been featured in a juried show at the Coastal Arts League, the Half Moon Bay Review calendar, and a variety of local coastside venues.
